Committed actors of education community who showcase preparedness to see students resume in 2019/20120, recommended to lead Divisional Task Forces
Actions that promote and encourage effective teaching and learning during the 2019/2020 academic year, are visible in the North West region with education stakeholders on course with messages that speak.
In effect, on the strength of Release No.G793/6154/MINESEC/RDSE/NW/SDGA of 26th July, 2019, the Regional Delegate of Secondary Education, Ngwang Roland Yuven has instructed Divisional Delegates to constitute Task Forces to push for school resumption, involving committed actors of the education community who have demonstrated willingness to see students resume schools within the context of the socio-political crisis rocking the region.
Two weeks after the release of the 2019 end of course GCE examination results, interviews into Lower Sixth classes of denominational colleges have been conducted. In the backdrop of some dissenting voices propagating schools boycott, education is projected in many homes, drinking spots, media outlets and offices as the gateway to civilization in the 21st century. That is perhaps why many courageous children and their parents are poised to return to school when the academic year opens on September 2, 2019.
On the streets, preparations are not the best, with the fear factor around following continuous threats from unidentified proponents of school boycott. That is why inbuilt ambitions by many to give education a chance is not publicly expressed in some public places. School administrators, teachers, parents, students and pupils maintain sealed lips
on the subject except in friendly company and environments. Bookshop promoters acknowledge the publication of book lists for the academic year, but are still waiting for the books to serve those ready to buy. Grass is still visible in schools and colleges that did not open their doors during the last academic year. In one lump sum, the campaign for effective schools resumption is on course in the North West region. Courage is the password and North West governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, has been cris-crossing the region’s Divisional Capitals with a message of encouragement to give those thirsty for education a chance.
It is against this backdrop that the Regional Delegate of Secondary Education Ngwang Roland Yuwen in an earlier release, published the timetable for schools re- opening.
The release to all principals of public and private secondary schools instructs them to hold staff meetings latest 30th August, 2019 to discuss measures that ensure the start of effective teaching and learning from September 2nd 2019.
The release also expects teachers to be served individual timetables during the general staff meeting while attestations of effective presence and teaching should be issued only after the first three weeks of the 2019/2020 school year and only to teachers who have been regular within those weeks.
