Internally Displaced Councillors (IDCs) and other displaced persons are happy beneficiaries of the largesse of the Mayor, Daniel Matta Mokambe

The mid-term budgetary session of the Mbonge Council to evaluate the level of execution of projects, took place recently at the Kumba City Council Hall.

Chairing the session, the Mayor of Mbonge, Chief Daniel Matta Mokambe informed the councillors that in order to retain the execution of envisaged projects in a no-go zone, they should be transferred to accessible areas of the municipality else they are bound to lose the funds.
“Mbonge Council area must be developed and we must work for it.

What we started must be brought to fulfilment. We have come a long way in evaluating revenue and expenditure, the level of execution of the 2019 budget and to look for the way forward to promote local development,” the Mayor noted.

He however disclosed that revenue recorded as of June 30, 2019, stands at FCFA 573,089,889 while expenditure stands at FCFA 306,293,54. Mayor Mokambe however said that they would have gone a long way in accomplishing their mission if not of the present socio-political upheavals.

He said that despite all these, they must engage in relentless pursuit of peace and reconciliation and seek to create a community where ideas will flourish. The session also witnessed the Internally Displaced Councillors (IDCs), receiving humanitarian assistance from the Mayor, who according to him, will continue to distribute to the rest of the IDPs in the bushes.

He used the session to outline some of his achievements which include the payment of salaries, CNPS, taxes, arrears to pensioners, purchase of didactic materials for schools and the rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads. The session was witnessed by the supervisory authority who doubles as the Senior Divisional Officer for Meme and who was represented by the Second Assistant, Mrs Hermia Njonje.
