Supreme Court: Administrative Bench President Passes On

Eulogies have continued to pour in for the President of the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court who passed on to glory on Sunday night in Yaounde.

André Belombé, according to family sources, gave up the ghost at about 9 pm at the Yaounde emergency centre following a surgical operation.

Reports say the top judge had just returned from Europe where he was receiving medical attention.

Some close collaborators and friends of the deceased were quoted as saying he was in apparent good health throughout the week preceding his death.

We gathered that when news of the demise of André Belombé broke, the cabinet of his office was sealed Monday by authorities of the Centre regional delegation of national security.

André Belombé was a 67-year-old first grade magistrate of exceptional class. An aborigine of the Mbam and Kim Division of the Centre region, André Belombé had a long and rich career in the country’s judiciary landscape.

Some of his posts of responsibility included those of president of the Centre Region Court of Appeal and of Director of Military Justice at the Ministry of Justice for many years. He was appointed president of the Administrative Bench of the Supreme Court in December 2014.
