Bacc 2020: Minister Promises To "Look Into" The Matter

Students have been complaining of the settings at this year’s session of the Baccalaureat Général citing a disparity in the settings
The Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga has promised to get to examiners and look into the mix up surrounding the written session of the 2021 Baccalaureat examination.
Since last weekend following the end of the written part of the examination, candidates who sat in for the Baccalaureat Général, claiming they have not been assessed based on the competence approach which they used all through the academic year.
Among the subjects pointed out with the controversy are Geography and Civic Education which most students claimed they were evaluated based on the “Objective approach” rather than the “Competence-based approach”.
Reacting to the complaints, the Minister of Secondary Education promised to look into matter with examiners but said it shouldn’t pose a big problem as such.
“An approach is an approach. It all depends on how a student decides to approach an examination. A student should not fail in an examination because he or she approached questions in a particular manner,” she said adding that “I will look into it with examiners. But as of now, there is no problem. I do not consider the BACC examination set up as a problem.”
The Minister was making the remarks after on Tuesday, June 15 while visiting some centres in Yaounde where the CAP and BEPC examinations are currently taking place.
The Minister of Secondary Education praised the conduct of the examination in the various centres visited in Yaounde while stressing on the strict respect of barrier measures at the various writing centres.
