Officials say the outcome of brainstorming during the Douala meeting will serve as a guide for all the development actions to be undertaken by the political and economic bloc in the next five years
Heads of the 23 institutions, bodies and agencies of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) are due to meet today July 17 in Douala to chart a new course for sub regional development.
According to a news advisory from the CEMAC Communications department, the meeting will also serve as a platform for the CEMAC officials to familiarise themselves with each other and to discuss ways of better carrying out the responsibilities conferred on them.
Convened by the President of the CEMAC Commission, Baltasar Engonga Edjo, the meeting will feature discussions on the governance structure of CEMAC, its legal and institutional system, the role and mission of the Commission, respect for the rule of law in the application of community texts, and issues related to the judicial control of CEMAC’s public funds.
Other issues to be deliberated upon include the role and responsibilities of specialised institutions of CEMAC and the functioning of CEMAC institutions offering professional training and their contributions to the sub regional integration drive.
