National Devt Strategy Implementation: Germany Reassures Cameroon Of Steady Support

The German government official gave the reassurance during a meeting Tuesday July 11 with Prime Minister Dr Joseph Dion Ngute at the Star Building

Germany’s State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Jochen Flashbarth says his country remains willing to foster its bilateral ties with Cameroon especially in the implementation of the 2020-2030 National Development Strategy (NDS30).

The official was in Cameroon for the second international conference of ministers on cross-border transhumance which ran from July 10-12.

“I came to Cameroon for the international conference on transborder transhumance. I decided to use the opportunity to hold a number of political meetings with Cameroon government officials, including the Prime Minister,” said Flashbarth.

“Germany has economic and development cooperation with Cameroon which has existed for many years. I reassured the PM that Germany has the intension of carrying on with this cooperation. Germany is a reliable partner of Cameroon,” he added.

He said Germany’s cooperation with Cameroon is diversified but some of the focus areas include social cohesion, support for the decentralisation process, good governance and the fight against corruption.

“It is our firm belief that these are very important factors for Cameroon’s growth. We are also interested in supporting the economic sector in order to help meet the government’s objective of making Cameroon an emerging country by 2035. We are also very ready to assist the private sector in investing in Cameroon,” the official assured.

Flashbarth was accompanied to the Star Building by the German Ambassador to Cameroon, Corina Fricke.

Meanwhile, on July 10, the German government official was also received in audience by the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella, during which they discussed economic and development cooperation between the two countries.
