Government Ministries, Department and Agencies as well as enterprises from the private sector have since the start of the week been exhibiting their products and services at the 2023 edition of the Fair on Government Action, Known by the acronym SAGO.

Officially launched by Communication Minister on behalf of the Prime Minister on July 24, the event is unfolding at the Yaounde multisports complex in the form of exhibitions, business-to-business and business to government meetings, workshops, roundtables and networking sessions.

In the past few days, various government ministries have been explaining to visitors the work they are doing in relation to specific issues. On Tuesday July 25, for example, officials of the Ministry of Labour and Security organised a session to explain the measures they have been taking to address different problems in the world of work in the country.

The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism explained efforts in its drive to promote the use of the two official languages by government and private establishments in the conduct of official business, as well as the nationwide sensitisation campaign against hate speech and xenophobia.

This year’s SAGO is taking place under the theme “Infrastructure development and structural transformation of the Cameroonian economy.”

“Indeed, infrastructure is at the centre of every nation’s development policy. In other words, increasing and modernising infrastructure is the basis for positive structural transformation in any given economy, which is likely to have a knock-on effect throughout the country, as it improves people’s living standards,” said Sadi during the event opener.

“SAGO 2023 offers the government the opportunity to present to the general public and to all its partners and economic players, achievements in this sector, as well as prospects for a quantitative and qualitative improvement in our infrastructure. Since its creation, SAGO’s ambition has been to create favourable conditions for direct exchanges between the authorities and their partners, be it institutional players, business persons or the general public.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Public Works, this year’s edition of the government and business fair ends on July 28.
