The candidates to run for the March 12 Senatorial elections are now known after the elections management body, Elecam released the list on Tuesday, February 7.

The list were made public during a press conference organised by the Chairman of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon, Enow Abrams Egbe.

In total, 22 lists of the 32 deposited by the 13 political parties were retained for the March 12 Senatorial elections were accepted. On the other hand, ten lists were rejected for not fulfilling the recommendations of the electoral code.

Following the publication of the lists, only the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM met the requirements to run in all ten regions.

Reacting to the publication of the lists, the deputy scribe of the CPDM, Gregoire Owona hoped his party will work hard on the field to emerge victorious.

“We are (running) alone in two regions so we can say we have two regions in advance. We hope that we will win in the eight other regions,” he said.

On his part, the representative of the Cameroon Democratic Union, Koupit Adamou said they will not be filing any petitions at the Constitutional Council and are now looking forward to the elections.

“The CDU is one of the political parties in Cameroon that has a big experience in terms of elections. We were sure that our lists will be validated and we don’t have any problems with the lists of our opponents. We think that we can only win by going to the field and convincing the electorate,” Koupit Adamou said.

The representative of the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation, Francis Bidima expressed hopes that they will win in the Littoral Region where their list was retained.

“We are contesting in the Littoral and are convinced that we will win. We don’t envisage losing and we will be on the field to sell our project and are very confident to win,”Francis Bidima said.
