Beaten in the first leg 2-1, the “cotonites” back to the wall have to react if they want qualify for the final
The return leg fixture pitting Coton Sport of Garoua against JS Kabylie in the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup takes place this Sunday in Algeria. Coton Sport will enter the match their backs against the wall after their home defeat last weekend (2-1).
Coton Sports started the match on the right foot as their star striker Lambert Araina opened score in the 29th minute from a free kick of SanouSuibiri. One minute from to the end of the first-half, a poor reading of the ball by goalkeeper Narcisse Nlend led to the equaliser. After the restart,CotonSport tried to regain scoring advantage, but the Algerians rather scored a second on a counter attack which forced EtameNgombe to score an unfortunate own goal on the 62nd minute.
The players of Coach SouleymanouAboubakar have to score two goals to directly qualify for the final or win with an identical score like in the first leg to play extra-time and probably post-match penalties.
Coton Sport has been having daily training sessions at the Yaounde Omnisport stadium at 8pm since that’s the time they will play their return leg match this Sunday. They will leave Cameroon tomorrow for Algiers.
The President of Coton Sport, Ferdinand Sanou wrote to CAF requesting that the referees for the second-leg match be changed after the “wanting” refereeing in the first-leg by Egyptian Amin Mohamed and his assistants. CAF have named Tunisian and Libyan officials for the encounter.
All through the tournament, Coton Sport has had a good away record in the competition of always scoring.
