National Interpools: Bafmeng, ISOHSA Sail To Semis

Both clubs qualified for the last four of the Interpools over the weekend with important victories against Ngaoundere FC and Academie Nyom II

Bafmeng United of the North West and the Isle of Hope and Sports Academy (ISOHSA) have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2023 edition of the National Interpools. Bafmeng United, champions of the North West region, last Saturday became the first club to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament after a one nil win against Ngaoundere FC.

They picked their third win in four matches at the annex Omnisports stadium in front of incredible number of fans. Bafmeng’s lone goal was scored from a spot kick by Hamlet Godson at the seventh minute.Very little known prior to the start of the Interpools, Bafmeng has so far been the outsider of the competition. After winning their first two fixtures against FC Garoua (2-0) and Olympique Biwong Bane (3-1), Bafmeng were slowed by Pouma FC beaten 3-2.

Playing their last group match, Ngaoundere FC, the club had the imperative of a victory considering they are exempted from the last playing day today. With just one goal conceded in their four matches, Bafmeng’s goalkeeper Leonard Ngam has been incredible between the sticks.

ISOHSA Rises At The Right Moment

They came from far to grab their semi-final place in the Interpools. ISOHSA of Limbe started the tournament with two draws against Union Sportive Abong-Mbang (0-0) and Volcan Noun (1-1). ISOHSA got to winning ways with an imposing victory on Sporting Club of Maroua 5-0.

ISOHSA won their last group fixture against Academie of Nyom II 3-2. The Limbe club had to fight till the last minute to keep all three points. Tomi Iben netted a first half brace for ISOHSA then Tiku Egbe scored ISOHSA’s third early in the second half.

However, Academie of Nyom scored two rapid goals from Emerant Mballa and Loic Bellamy but the scores did not change. Both Bafmeng and ISOHSA will play their semi-final fixture on Wednesday.
