Cameroon:Ahead Of New Season, Colombe Sets FCFA 128 Million Budget

With the new football season that in on the horizon, Colombe Sportive of the Dja and Lobo has set ambitions to fly higher when action kick off.

To get activities of their club started ahead of the new season, members of the club met last Saturday in Sangmelima for their general assembly presided over by the Senior Divisional Officer of the Dja and Lobo, Damien Owono.

It was an opportunity for the administration of the club to unveil the club’s ambitions for the new season which is picking up a ticket for continental club football and winning the Cup of Cameroon. That will represent a marked improvement after the club finished sixth in group B last season.

To achieve their objectives, the club set their budget for the new season at FCFA One Hundred and Twenty Eight Million (FCFA 128,000,000). For the moment, about FCFA Sixty Million (FCFA 60,000,000) has been raised, the Club President, Andre Noel Essian revealed, while adding that some funds have already been used for player recruitments and to get training started.

On his part, the Managing Director of Colombe, Charles Elle presented the balance sheet of the previous season with a net spend of about FCFA 102,802,000.

The Mayor of Sangnelima, Jean Faustin Bekono pledged the Council’s support to construct a new headquarters for the club as soon as possible.

Last Saturday’s congress held after Colombe of the Dja and Lobo participated at a pre-season tournament organized by the South Regional Council. Colombe lost at the final to Canon of Yaounde 5-4(0-0 aet) on penalties.

According to the President of the South Regional Council, Emmanuel Mve Elemva, the tournament was aimed at keeping the clubs busy and getting them set for the new football season.
