Twenty five players have just rounded off a one-week training camp and are now looking to be part of the next training camp in preparation for next month’s double header against Gabon
The doors were shut on a one-week training camp of players selected for the U-23 foot6ball team last Thursday, February 2 at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo.
From January 26 to February 2, 25 players called to camp by head coach Guy Feutchine were put through their paces as part of preparations for next month’s last round U-23 Afcon qualifiers against Gabon.
Thus for one week, head coach Guy Feutchine and his assistants led the players through intense ball and physical work as they also watched the players closely to see those who can make the grade up. The team rounded off the training camp with a goalless draw against Eding Sport.
The objective of the training camp was to identify and spot a couple of talents who can join the final squad next month for preparations for the double header against Gabon.
“The players were all called up because we all took time to watch them so each and every one of them deserved to be part of the camp. They have the opportunity to fight their way into the main team which already has a spine,” head coach Guy Feutchine said.
The players left the camp satisfied with their fingers now crossed as they wait for the release of the next list in preparation for the qualifiers.
Cameroon will face Gabon in the space of four days, March 25-29 with the winner of the tie qualifying for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations which holds in Morocco in June.
