The Minister of Sports and Physical Education last Tuesday opened the sporting venue
After Yaounde , Douala, Bamenda and Ngaoundere, the Parcours Vita of Garuoua was inaugutated last Tuesday by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. Situated on the Garoua-Gashiga road, the sports venue was built by the Military Engineering Corps.
Built on a surface area of 20 hectares within one year, the inaugural ceremony of the Garoua Parcours Vita was attended by a multitude of personalities like the the Minister of the Labour and Social Security Grégoire Owona who is also the coordinator of Garoua National Games aka Dixiades, the Governor of the North Region Jean Abate Edi’i, The Mayor of Graoua Goura Beladji and the Lamido of El Rachidini.
Minister Mouelle Kombi said the city of Garoua is fast becoming a strong sports venue after laudably hosting a group during the 2021 AFCON and laps of the 2022 International Chantal Biya Cycling race and the 2023 Cycling Tour of Cameroon a few days back, the Parcours offers them the opportunity to do more.
He equally thanked the Military Engineering Corps for a the job well done as they delivered in record time. The Parcours Vita was slated to be done in two years but they terminated their work within one year.
The Garoua Pracours Vita is a multi-purpose field on which handball, volleyball and basketball can be played on and a football field for football lovers. Apart from sports, the Parcours Vita also has a walking area and play ground were children for children.
