Covid-19:Nationwide Vaccination Campaign Extended

The exercise will now run till Friday, July 16 after government observed a growing enthusiasm around the campaign as they number of vaccinated persons keeps soaring
The nationwide vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic launched last week has been extended to July 16, the Minister of Public Health Dr Malachie Manaouda has announced.
Initially scheduled to run from July 7-16, the Minister of Public Health extended the exercise due to the “enthusiasm observed”, according to the Public Health Minister.
Launched last week, the exercise targets persons aged 18 and above and the vaccines are being offered at health facilities as well as by mobile teams in communities through door-to-door as well as at public gatherings.
Since the campaign was launched, the various health districts have been actively administering the doses of vaccines as over 2000 community health workers have been mobilized for the exercise which has attracted praises from the Minister of Public Health.
“Active on the field since Wednesday within the framework of the expanded vaccination campaign against Covid, our immunisation health soldiers are to be congratulated for the mid-term results,” the Minister of Public Health said.
The deployment of fixed and mobile teams is preceded by outreach activities. With the support of the administrative authorities, the various community leaders and actors, answers are equally provided worries raised by the population in the course of the campaign.
At the end of each day, teams gather to assess the exercise with the figures and statistics gathered and sent to the Expanded Programme on Immunization.
With at least five days to go to the end of the vaccination exercise, it is hoped the over 360,000 doses of the AstraZenecca and Sinopharm vaccines distributed nationwide for the vaccination campaign will be administered.
