In the years ahead, the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa, OHADA, will begin working from its new embellished permanent secretariat in Yaounde, following the laying of the foundation stone on August 20, 2019. Chairing the event, the Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso saluted the architect for a job well done and reassured the organisation that the Government will give them all the needed support. He also cautioned that the impending transition at the helm of the organisation should not in any way affect the execution of the project.

Appreciating the fruitful collaboration OHADA has with the government, the Permanent Secretory, Professor Dorothé Sossa Cossi said the project will reinforce Cameroon’s leadershipat the organisation. “This project will increase OHADA’s credibility and we are grateful that Cameroon has been an exemplary partner,” he added. Cameroon, it should be noted, is one of the 17 OHADA member states. OHADA is a system of corporate law and implementing institutions adopted by the seventeen West and Central African nations in 1993 in Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.

To be constructed on 2,617 square meters, the structure would have ten floors, 200 offices, an auditorium, several conference halls, Library and gardens at each floor. He said the project is quite huge and would take at least three years to be completed and delivered. On its part, theYaounde City Council has lauded the organisation and has pledged to remain mobilised and ready to accompany OHADA as the people of Yaounede can’t wait to see the edifice erected.
